A friendly winter safety reminder from Support Services: plan ahead for outdoor activities, monitor weather conditions, allow extra travel time, ensure individuals are properly prepared, stay in communication with supervisors, and remain calm. Thank you for your dedication to those we serve.

A friendly reminder from Support Services. Many of the services we provide require or involve time spent outdoors. Whether that is commuting in the snow, ice, and slush, or whether we are providing day hab services outdoors, it's important to plan ahead and stay prepared.


Here are some tips to make sure we all stay safe during the winter months.


  1. Monitor the weather and make sure you have everything you need before departing. 


  1. When picking up individuals, make sure they're not just prepared for the activity planned, but also for the weather in general. 


  1. Plan ahead and anticipate longer travel times, and delays.


  1. Keep in communication with your supervisor to troubleshoot any issues you encounter.


And most importantly: stay calm.
