Assisted Living Program

Assisted living clientsREACH’s Assisted Living Program provides the assistance needed for individuals who require round-the-clock services so they can fulfill their wishes to live as independently as possible.  Some individuals receive services in REACH’s group homes and others live in REACH’s independent apartments or maintain residences elsewhere in the community. Services are designed to promote client choice and independence.

REACH Assisted Living Program Supports

  • Residence in a group home setting, or
  • Living in independent housing with 24 hour staff support
  • Facilitation of social, recreational, and employment activities
  • Assistance with activities of daily living
  • Monitoring for health and safety needs
  • Transportation
  • Case management

REACH operates three assisted living homes licensed by the State of Alaska. Homes serve up to five residents each. Additionally, REACH owns a 6-apartment complex and a 4-apartment unit where clients receive a variety of levels of support, including 24-hour assistance.

It is estimated that approximately 25 individuals with developmental disabilities in Southeast Alaska will need assisted living over the next five years. In June, 2009, REACH broke ground for a new group home to be completed by 2010 - and plans to develop an additional group home by 2011.
